With your contribution, you are helping our artisans to improve their way of life.
They start their working hours very early at dawn, lovingly weaving the different wool of sheep matching colours, in their different and unique designs that become a piece of art in their hands.
Their economic situation has not been easy since the TLC’s opened the doors to imports from Asia, making them uncompetitive in the market, since the prices of imported finished products have been cheaper than the products they make. Wool production in Colombia has declined due to unfair competition from synthetic fibres, but in Boyacá, Colombia and other regions, due to ancestral conviction, this activity refuses to disappear. Although their work is unique, of excellent quality, totally organic, its prices are high compared to the low-quality products that reached the competitive markets.
Reason why “Café de los Andes” is committed to promoting the work of our artisans, because they deserve it.
Wonderful people, who open their doors to all foreigners who want to go to see the beauty of their landscapes and delicious cuisine.
If you have never visited Villa de Leyva, we invite you to cheer up and take a flight to Colombia, our people from Boyacá will be very happy with your presence. And you will be enchanted by the works of art that you will see on the different streets and businesses, even more difficult of all will be that you will not want to return to your homeland, you will want to stay and live there, just like many foreigners today live in our wonderful Colombia.
